WACO -- Increased speed limits are hitting the heart of Texas.
The Texas Transportation Commissioner announced Thursday a plan to up the speed limit to 75 mph on 15,00 miles of state highways.
That includes a stretch in Hill County starting from the I-35 split and down to the Hill and Johnson County line.
But for those of you wondering when we are going to see the limit increase from Hill County all the way down to Williamson County, don't hold your breath.
"We're probably going to be looking at 2015, 2016 timeframe because of all of the construction. A massive I-35 expansion project that is under way right now," said Ken Roberts with TxDOT.
Roberts said once construction is complete it's up to the engineers to determine which sections are safe enough to increase the speed limits.
