COLLEGE STATION -- The hit Food Network reality t-v show, "The Great Food Truck Race" has transformed what it means to literally eat on the go.
And the popularity of one local mobile bistro in the Bryan-College Station area has sparked the Food Network's interest.
Chef Tai's mobile bistro started just a year ago but word of mouth quickly spread and it soon became a hit.
"It's definitely fun. We love the different atmosphere and it gives you a great option for lunch that's different from everywhere else," said Cara Cook.
The mobile truck moves every day to serve its gourmet cuisine at new and different locations but that hasn't stopped some from becoming regulars.
"That's the thing that I think is really good is having those new things, innovative, quick but still relatively good for you," said Hub Kennady.
Chef Tai isn't surprised by the community's support.
Just a week ago Chef Tai's mobile truck was sitting in 190th place in the Food Network's "Great Food Truck Race" but now he's holding one of the top leader board spots.
"Votes have just been piling up, piling up and over five days later we at number two and we've been sitting at number two spot solid for the past four days," said Chef Tai.
To earn the spot on the upcoming season, Chef Tai has to be voted number one in the nation and voters can vote up to ten times a day.
With regulars like Kennady backing him up, it very well could become a reality.
"He's a great character, a great person and he should be on," Kennady said.
And Chef Tai isn't shying away from the potential spotlight.
"I would love to get an opportunity to represent this great community, for the people, for the business, the students who have been supporting us for the past week and three weeks into the closing of the polls so I would love to do that," said Chef Tai.
Voting will take place through September 12th and to help vote Chef Tai's truck up to the number one spot click here.
