A Waco police officer is hurt during a struggle to arrest a wanted man.
It happened Thursday morning at around 7:45 a.m. when an officer stopped a wanted person in the 1700 block of Dallas Circle. The policeman knew the suspect, 28-year old Darren Chambers, was wanted in McLennan County for a bond forfeiture warrant on a previous drug charge. Chambers tried to get away from the officer during the arrest, causing injury.
The officer was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Chambers was able to escape authorities and will now face several other additional charges, including assault on a peace officer.
Anyone with information related to Darren Chambers’s whereabouts is asked to call Waco Police or Crime Stoppers. He is described as 5’9", 160-170 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. Chambers is also known to have numerous tattoos, several of which are visible in the previous arrest photo.
